News

CRANSTON, RI ― January 2012 ― AIM, a leading global manufacturer of solder assembly materials for electronics assembly, PC fabrication, component manufacturing and other industries, announces that Karl Seelig, Vice President of Technology, will present his VOC-Free Flux Study, during a technical session entitled Flux, scheduled to take place Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 9:00am-10:00am at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA.

The presentation will explain several factors relating to the use of a VOC-free flux in the wave soldering process. These factors include the effect of varying types of acids and the impact on Ion Chromatography (IC) test results and SIR test results, weak organic acids (WOA) solubility and its impact on the environment, and electrical integrity of components.

In an effort to maintain low VOC emissions within our environment, activists and lawmakers have encouraged and/or mandated that electronics manufacturers change from alcohol-based volatile organic compound (VOC)-containing fluxes to water-based VOC-free flux alternatives. These VOC-free fluxes have advanced into market shares throughout North America as well as in Asia and Europe.
