A message from David Suraski, President, Assembly Materials Division
In 1936, AIM began as a modest metals recycling company with a vision to meet the metal needs of the industrial world. Nine decades later, we’re proud to stand as one of the most trusted global suppliers of solder assembly materials—serving customers across industries, continents, and generations of technology.

Our story is not just about longevity. It is about adaptability, dedication, and people.
In the mid-1980s, we saw an opportunity to apply our metallurgical expertise to a growing market: electronics manufacturing. That move defined our future. Since then, we’ve expanded into new regions, launched groundbreaking materials, and built the infrastructure needed to support customers across a changing global landscape.

- 1986 – AIM transitions into the electronics space
- 1988 – Our U.S. operations open in Rhode Island

- 2000-2005 – We expand in Europe and Asia, ensuring local support with global reach
- 2008 and again in 2020 – We invest in significant R&D expansion, reinforcing our commitment to innovation
We’ve developed industry-defining alloys like REL61 and REL22, introduced market-leading chemistries like M8 solder paste, and achieved IATF certifications across several of our global manufacturing sites. But through every milestone, one thing has remained constant: our belief that success is built not just on great products, but on great partnerships.
At AIM, We Don’t Just Sell—We Solve
What sets us apart is not only the performance of our materials, but the responsiveness of our people. Whether it’s a local line issue, a global supply chain challenge, or a need for technical support in real time, we’re there and ready to help. That’s what we mean when we say “Solder + Support.”
As we look toward our 100th year and beyond, we remain a flexible, privately held, global company with a sharp focus on quality, innovation, and partnership. In a world that keeps changing, we’re proud to be the constant our customers can count on.
To our customers, partners, and employees around the world—thank you for being part of this journey.
Here’s to the next 90.
