Cranston, Rhode Island USA. AIM Solder is pleased to announce its participation in the upcoming SMTA Ontario Chapter Webinar. This event takes place July 29 from 12:00pm-1:00pm EDT. AIM’s Gayle Towell will be presenting on The Modern Lead-Free Alloy Landscape: Moving Beyond SAC305.
Abstract: The lead-free alloy landscape has evolved considerably since SAC305 became the industry’s default replacement for tin-lead solder. Today, manufacturers can choose from a growing range of low-silver, silver-free, high reliability, and lower-temperature materials designed to address specific cost, processing, and reliability challenges. This webinar will review the evolution of lead-free solder alloys and examine the factors that should guide alloy selection, including material cost, solderability, process temperature, thermal cycling, mechanical performance, and application requirements. It will also explore how newer-generation alloys can provide advantages over SAC305 in many applications and offer a practical framework for selecting the best alloy for a given product and process.
You can register for the SMTA Ontario Webinar at SMTA. Registration is free for SMTA members and students and $25 for non-members.
